Dear Murder Diary is a text-based murder mystery type game, where the player tries to piece together who died and how by reading newspaper articles. Built from a simple gameplay loop where even the finest of detail can bring you closer to the truth.

If you play the game, even for only a few minutes, please let me know what you think of it. Constructive criticism, and praises of course, are more than welcome. This is how I will learn and make things better the next time around.

I solved it!  Were we supposed to see the Grandma's forward to her book at some point?

No. There are two artifacts related to your grand-parents: the newspaper article about the house fire and the love letter. They were there for lore purposes.

If I expand on the game I have ideas concerning the overarching storyline

very nice!  Well everything seemed to work for me, but the identity of the last victim - I just guessed until I got that one.  But was very well crafted!

Super enjoyable entry, loved solving this one. The mystery was very effectively written, and the interactions were nicely polished. Had a similar initial idea of document game myself actually for the Game Jam. I couldn't get it work so did something completely different in the end, but glad someone managed to execute this structure in such an enjoyable manner.

Only thing I'd suggest is to make the workable space a little bit larger so players can fully organise evidence, but that's pretty tiny issue and managed to solve it regardless.

Thank you, I really appreciate it! The workable space was a bit small but I wanted the player to have the feeling of “too many articles to look at”. I had an idea to have boxes you had to open to take out articles and that you could used to organize yourself, but I ran out of time since I only decided to participate in the jam in the last week.
